About the Author
Alison DaRosa is a native San Diegan and an award-winning journalist. She spent most of her career at the San Diego Union-Tribune, first covering the city and then as Travel Editor/Writer/Photographer. During her tenure, she roamed the globe and was a six-time winner of the nation’s most prestigious award for travel journalism, the Lowell Thomas Gold Award presented by the Society of American Travel Writers. Though she accepted a buyout and left the U-T before launching this app, Alison continues to write a monthly travel column for the paper. She also writes freelance travel stories for other publications, including the Los Angeles Times.
The bottom line: Alison knows San Diego and she knows travel. Let her show you around her favorite city.
When she isn’t wandering the world on assignment or scouting for updates to the San Diego Essential Guide, Alison contributes to the San Diego Visitors Bureau blog and teaches travel writing at University of California San Diego Extension. In summer, find her at La Jolla Shores with her taxi-cab-yellow boogie board.
